For four films Pierce Brosnan made the Omega Seamaster the most recognizable watch in the movies, the Bond wrist that sold itself in every close-up. In Love Is All You Need he wears the opposite kind of watch. It is a Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945, a rectangular gold dress piece on a brown strap, from a Swiss house that dates to 1791 and that almost nobody outside the watch world can name on sight. According to Quill and Pad, Brosnan had been photographed in the gold Vintage 1945 off screen before he wore it in the film, which suggests the watch was his own rather than the costume department's.

Susanne Bier's film is a Danish romantic comedy set on the Italian coast at Sorrento, where Philip, a wealthy English widower, hosts his son's wedding and tries not to fall for the bride's mother, a Danish hairdresser played by Trine Dyrholm. In the still he stands at the edge of the garden party in a navy linen shirt with a champagne flute, the gold Girard-Perregaux just visible at his wrist. It suits Philip. He has the kind of money that has stopped needing to announce itself, and the Vintage 1945 announces nothing to anyone who cannot already read it.
