Pierce Brosnan wears a Blancpain Villeret

Kent Nelson keeps three personal effects in Black Adam (2022): a wedding ring, a silver amulet, and a thin gold watch. All three belong to Pierce Brosnan. The Justice Society's senior sorcerer, the man who wields the Helmet of Fate, is a widower in Brosnan's reading of the character ("Kent Nelson had a wife. Inza was his wife"), and the actor told CinemaBlend he dressed the part from his own life. The ring is his wedding ring. The amulet on his right wrist is Heidr art, from the Nordic mythology of whales. And the watch came from his wife, Keely Shaye Smith: "She gave me a beautiful Blancpain 15 or 20 years ago. And the inscription is, 'Time flies on love's wings.' And so I thought it was very fitting to wear it as a time piece for this character." The three objects, he said, became talismans for him, things he does not normally wear in movies, worked into the costume with designers Kurt and Bart.

There is a wrinkle in the record. In a British GQ video, Brosnan named a different brand: "The watch that I wear in Black Adam, is a Montblanc, which my wife Keely bought for me." Same wife, same film, same wedding ring worn beside it. One of the two namings is a slip. The official character poster leans Blancpain: on Nelson's wrist sits an ultra-thin gold dress watch with a pale dial, slim markers, and a brown leather strap, a match for the Villeret, the dress line named for the village where Jehan-Jacques Blancpain founded the company in 1735. No photograph of a Montblanc on Nelson's wrist has surfaced, so this record stays with the Blancpain and notes the doubt.

The watch talk did not stop with the wardrobe. In the same GQ segment, Brosnan said his shared love of watches made him fast friends with Aldis Hodge, the film's Hawkman and, in Time+Tide's phrase, a "renowned watch nerd." Brosnan ended the segment plainly: "I wear a watch to keep time and I wear it for the beauty of the timepiece. I just love watches."
