Paula Patton wears a Suunto Vector

In Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, Brad Bird's 2011 entry, Paula Patton plays Jane Carter, an IMF field agent hunting the assassin who killed the man she loved. The film keeps her in motion: prison breaks, the Kremlin, Dubai. In one scene she crouches in a brick vault in a headlamp and a tactical vest, rigging a red brick of explosive, and a chunky black watch rides on her wrist.

The watch has long been called a Suunto Vector, the Finnish wrist computer that packs an altimeter, barometer, and compass into a tool watch, the kind of thing a field operative would actually carry. It is a fair guess, but not a documented one. No source identifies Carter's watch, the frame is dark, and the still shows a chunky black sport watch without enough detail to settle on the Vector, or even the brand. It is plainly field kit. Whether it is a Suunto, the film never quite lets you see.
