Furious 7 (2015) was half-made when Paul Walker died on November 30, 2013, in a single-vehicle crash in Santa Clarita, out for a drive in a Porsche Carrera GT with his business partner, the racing driver Roger Rodas. Universal halted the production, and what came back was a reconstruction. Walker's younger brothers Caleb and Cody stood in for him on set alongside the actor John Brotherton, and Weta Digital laid Walker's face over their performances in 350 visual effects shots, working from archived footage and outtakes of his earlier work in the series.

Through all of that, Brian O'Conner still wears a watch. The production stills show it plainly: a steel dive-style case on a dark strap in the garage scenes, a darker shape under the suit cuff in the funeral scene. None of them is sharp enough to read a brand. The watch press, which had tracked O'Conner's Jaeger-LeCoultre dive watches through the earlier installments, published nothing on this one. Another Master Compressor is the plausible reading, since that is where the earlier films had left him, and plausible is as far as the evidence goes.

The film wrote Brian out alive. He retires to the beach with Mia and their son; Dom slips away without a goodbye; Brian catches him at a stop sign, and the two bid each other farewell.
