Pablo Schreiber wears a Casio G-Shock

In Den of Thieves (2018), Ray Merrimen leads a robbery crew built entirely from ex-MARSOC Marines, and the target is the one bank in Los Angeles nobody robs: the Federal Reserve, where roughly 30 million dollars in old bills comes out of circulation every day and heads for the shredders. The crew's plan is to take the untraceable money in the window before it stops existing. Pablo Schreiber plays Merrimen, the crew's leader and lead planner, opposite Gerard Butler's hard-living sheriff's deputy, in Christian Gudegast's debut as a director. Gudegast also wrote the film, and critics spent much of 2018 comparing it to Michael Mann's Heat.

The watch on Merrimen's wrist is a Casio G-Shock, and the identification of which one belongs to the crowd. Spotern's spotters logged it as the Rangeman GW-9400-1 and marked the spot a perfect match, and when the question reached Reddit's G-Shock forum, members studying the frames landed in the same place: "Looks like Rangeman GW9400-1 to me." The same spotters put another G-Shock, a G-9300, on crew member Enson Levoux, which fits a unit that dresses like it deployed together. No watch publication has covered the film, and the record's own still, Merrimen firing a belt-fed machine gun across a car hood, keeps his wrists hidden, so the Rangeman call is a community identification, solid on the brand and persuasive on the model.
