Fury (2014) shuts five men inside a Sherman tank for the last weeks of the war in Europe, and Michael Peña plays the driver, Trini Garcia, the one the crew calls Gordo. David Ayer shot the film for grime and exhaustion, and Gordo wears the part: biker rings, a gold chain, dog tags stamped with a Chicago address. Somewhere in that pile was a watch, though it is the one piece you have to take on faith.

Propstore sold it years later with a certificate of authenticity, and the auction listing is the closest look anyone gets. The watch is a fake, and a careful one. A faux leather band carries four inset resin plates, each molded with a coat of arms and picked out in gold, silver, copper, and black paint. The metal face holds a single spinning knob and a yellowed paper dial reading 4:17, under a clear acrylic cover with a small crack in it. Nothing inside runs. It was built to read as a beaten working man's watch, not to keep time.

There was a second one. Propstore catalogued another Gordo watch, a near-twin on a plain leather band with four hinged metal plates, its coats of arms gold-plated rather than painted, the dial a goldenrod under glass. By the auction house's own account, continuity photos show Gordo wearing that watch on set, and it still never reaches the finished cut. Two fake watches were made for one tank driver, and the better record of either is a sold-lot page. No brand sits on either, because there was never a real watch to name.
