Michael Caine wears a Traser Black Storm Pro

The watch logged for Alfred is really Michael Caine's own. Watch writers who have looked at Caine's collection point to a Traser H3 Black Storm Pro, a Swiss tool watch he began wearing around the time he started playing Bruce Wayne's butler, and which he was photographed in as far back as the Batman Begins premiere in 2005. Years later a piece described as "Sir Michael Caine's Traser" turned up at a Bonhams auction. It is a quartz watch with a carbon-fibre case, built for the dark: the markers and hands hold tiny sealed tubes of tritium gas that glow on their own, without any need to charge them in light.

Whether the Traser is actually on Alfred's wrist in the films is harder to say. Caine played the butler across all three of Christopher Nolan's Batman movies, and Watchonista, which covered his watches, wondered whether Alfred's written backstory as a former SAS man was what drew Caine to a military watch in the first place. That is a guess about the actor more than a fact about the character. The watch is documented as Caine's, worn off screen and to events, more clearly than it is documented on screen.

The film's last scene is the test. Alfred sits at a cafe table in Florence and looks up to see Bruce Wayne alive, at another table, with Selina Kyle. It is the image the trilogy ends on. The watch on his wrist in that shot, though, is not the black Traser. It reads as a gold-cased dress watch on a dark strap, which is why the Traser is best treated as the watch Caine wore as himself, not the one the camera caught on Alfred.
