Martin Riggs spends three Lethal Weapon movies acting like he'd rather die than file paperwork, and by the third one, in 1992, Mel Gibson plays the danger mostly for laughs. The black TAG Heuer on his wrist is as much Riggs as the mullet and the Beretta - a Formula One, the cheap fiberglass quartz TAG that was on every other wrist around 1990.
Except the one Propstore sold isn't a TAG Heuer at all. It's the production's own replica, a rubber and metal stunt double built to pass on camera - and built well, down to a dial that reads TAG Heuer, Professional, 200 Meters, Quartz, with FORMULA 1 molded into the strap. The kind of convincing fake you hand an actor before he goes through a windshield, so the real one never gets risked. It came out of armorer Mike Papac's collection still carrying grime from the shoot.
What sold beside it was no fake: the carved wedding band Riggs wears through the series for his dead wife, Victoria. A fake watch and a real ring, off the same wrist.
