Roger Murtaugh spends every Lethal Weapon movie reminding us he's too old for this, and the 1992 third one has him keeping count - eight days to his pension when it opens, and dropping. Danny Glover plays him as the cautious one, the veteran who just wants to make it to retirement in one piece.

So what does a man counting down to his pension wear? Murtaugh's watch is a gold-toned Timex with a date window on a stretchy expansion bracelet, the kind you buy once and stop thinking about. It tells the time, and that's all he's asking of it.

The part I didn't expect is where it ended up: at auction, out of the collection of Mike Papac, the film's armorer, sold together with Murtaugh's rings - and you can catch one of those gold bands on Glover's hand right here in the frame.
