Ludacris wears a Ritmo Mundo Persepolis

Fast Five (2011) is where the franchise traded street racing for the heist movie: Justin Lin assembling the full crew in Rio de Janeiro and ending the film with a bank vault dragged through downtown traffic behind two Dodge Chargers. Ludacris's Tej Parker comes back for it as the technical man of the operation, the former Miami mechanic who runs the electronics while everyone else drives.

The watch attached to him here is the Ritmo Mundo Persepolis, and the brand behind it is a story on its own. Ritmo Mundo was established in 2002 by Ali Soltani, a Beverly Hills entrepreneur and former lawyer whose company started in Milan and ended up in California, and the Persepolis is its signature: a multi-time-zone design with an orbital case that Soltani first sketched on a napkin in a Los Angeles restaurant. The pairing of brand and character is real; Tej wears a documented Ritmo Mundo later in the franchise, and the brand's retail partners celebrate his character as a recurring wearer.

What nobody offers is proof for this film. The franchise-friendly write-ups speak of several editions without naming Fast Five, the watch press that documented other wrists in the movie never mentions Tej, and no production still has surfaced that puts the watch in frame. The Persepolis stays the best guess on offer, and a guess is what it remains.
