Leland Orser wears an unidentified watch

Peter Berg directed Very Bad Things (1998) as a black comedy about a bachelor party in Vegas where a stripper dies and five friends decide to cover it up instead of calling the police. Leland Orser plays Charles Moore, the one member of the group who cannot handle it. Everyone else adapts — some with reluctance, some with disturbing ease — but Charles falls apart. Orser is good at playing men who are barely holding together, and here he gets to play one who is not holding together at all. The film gets progressively uglier as the cover-up leads to more violence, and Charles is always the weakest link, the one who might confess at any moment.
