As the story goes, the G-Shock on Keanu Reeves' wrist in Speed (1994) wasn't from the prop department. It was his own.

The watch is a Casio DW-5600C-1V, a 1987 square G-Shock with a stainless steel inner case and a screw-lock back - the last of the basic 5000-5600 series before Casio moved off screw-backs entirely. The 5600 line goes back to the original 1983 DW-5000C, the watch Kikuo Ibe set out to build after a watch his father had given him broke when he dropped it. The brief Ibe wrote himself for the next prototype was three numbers: ten meters, ten bars, ten years. The G-Shock launched with all three.

Jack Traven, the LAPD SWAT cop Reeves plays in Jan de Bont's Speed, is in the field when the call comes in. He keeps his watch on while he rappels off rooftops, sprints under buses, defuses bombs, and rides on the underside of a moving city bus that will explode if it drops below 50 mph. The DW-5600C is cheap, tough, and legible at a sprint. If the watch really was his own, the costume department was smart to leave it alone.
