At a fruit stall hung with a hand-painted FRUTA FRESCA banner, two men share the frame. One is Hondo, in a plain gray T-shirt and jeans, the only person on the block not dressed for work. Shemar Moore plays him, Daniel Harrelson, the sergeant who leads an LAPD tactical team across the CBS series S.W.A.T. Here he is the outsider, on a street that answers to a different police.

The man beside him belongs there. Charro, played by Jose Maria Aguila, wears the dark shirt and star badge of a Mexican police officer, a duty belt low on his hips, and a watch on his left wrist. He turns a green lime over in his fingers while he watches the road. The watch is all black, a glossy black case on a black resin strap, the kind of blacked-out sport watch that vanishes against a dark uniform.

It keeps its name to itself. Charro wears the watch turned so the dial faces his body, and the lens catches only the side of the case and a hard line of light off the crystal. A watch is made to be read, and this one is worn looking the other way. Nothing on the side facing the camera carries a logo or a model name.

So it stays an open question, a real watch on a real wrist that the frame will not let you identify. Hondo predates this series by decades: Steve Forrest first played Daniel Harrelson in the 1975 ABC version of S.W.A.T., Samuel L. Jackson took the role in the 2003 film, and Shemar Moore inherited it for CBS in 2017.
