Jon Voight wears an unidentified watch

Jon Voight plays Lord Richard Croft in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Lara's dead father who shows up in flashbacks and video messages to point her toward an ancient artifact. Simon West directed this 2001 video game adaptation, casting Voight opposite his actual daughter Angelina Jolie. Lord Croft belonged to the Illuminati, found the location of the Triangle of Light (an artifact that controls time), but hid it rather than let the secret society get their hands on it. The film parcels out his backstory through recordings he left behind, and Voight manages to make what is mostly exposition feel warm. The real-life father-daughter casting adds something strange to a movie that is otherwise just action and exotic locations. Lord Croft is the mystery Lara spends the whole film chasing, and his decisions drive the plot even though he died years earlier. Voight and Jolie had a complicated relationship off-screen, which gives their scenes together an odd charge that the writers probably did not anticipate. His watch has not been identified.
