Five years before Casino Royale, Daniel Craig played Alex West, a rival treasure hunter and Lara Croft's ex-lover, in a video game adaptation directed by Simon West. He was third-billed behind Angelina Jolie and Iain Glen, who later played Jorah Mormont on Game of Thrones. Jon Voight, Jolie's real-life father, played her character's father. Craig was a working British actor coming off some Mike Leigh films and BBC's Our Friends in the North. Nobody involved would have guessed he was five years away from inheriting the most famous watch deal in cinema.

The Breitling Chronomat is from before the Omega contract. From Casino Royale in 2006 onward, Craig became synonymous with Omega's Seamaster as James Bond, making any pre-Bond watch sighting a curiosity. The Chronomat fits Alex West, who is a knockoff version of the character Craig would eventually refine into Bond: charming, physical, morally flexible. But it is from the era when a prop department could put whatever they wanted on his wrist without checking with Bienne first.
