Luke Purdue is the seasoned art thief at the center of Guy Ritchie's Fountain of Youth, son of the legendary adventurer Harrison Purdue, hunting the mythical fountain with his estranged sister Charlotte. Through every heist and chase John Krasinski wears the same watch, a Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Chronograph Calendar in rose gold, a chronograph that also carries a full calendar with day, date, month, and a moonphase, on a leather strap worn soft from use. The one exception in the whole film is a dive to the wreck of the Lusitania, which called for an Apple Watch.
The costume team treated that single watch as character work. Costume designer LouLou Bontemps reasoned that Luke is not the kind of man who goes out and buys a collection of watches; the believable story was a gift, either his father's watch or one his father gave him, and it is all he consistently wears. The same logic sorted the rest of the cast. Natalie Portman's Charlotte, a gallery curator, wears a Reverso Classic Duetto framed as the kind of piece a family passes down, and the billionaire bankrolling the hunt wears a two-faced Reverso tourbillon chosen to mirror his double life.
