John Forsythe plays Sam Marlowe in The Trouble with Harry, a painter who stumbles across a dead body in the Vermont woods and becomes one of several townspeople convinced they might have killed him. Alfred Hitchcock directed this 1955 black comedy, which treats murder as a minor inconvenience that keeps interrupting everyone's autumn. The corpse gets buried and dug up multiple times as the characters try to figure out what actually happened and whether they need to worry about it. Forsythe plays Sam as an easygoing artist more interested in the pretty young widow than in the body that keeps turning up. The film is one of Hitchcock's lighter efforts, more interested in eccentric behavior than suspense. His watch has not been identified.
