John David Washington wears a Hamilton Jazzmaster

Christopher Nolan's Tenet (2020) never gives John David Washington's character a name. The credits call him "Protagonist," a CIA operative pulled into a war fought with inverted entropy, where bullets and people can run backward through time. Hamilton was the film's official watch partner, and it put two very different watches on the Protagonist's wrist.

The one in this scene is the Hamilton Jazzmaster Seaview Chrono, reference H37512131, a steel sports chronograph with a black dial. It is the dressier of the two, the watch he wears, in InsideHook's words, "when attempting to score a meeting with superyacht-owning villain Andrei Sator." Here he has the wheel of a boat with Sator's wife Kat (Elizabeth Debicki) seated behind him, dressed like a man who belongs alongside a billionaire's yacht.

The other Hamilton is the one that does the plot work. For the mission scenes, the brand's engineers built a one-off prop, the Khaki Navy BeLOWZERO, with a red or blue digital countdown set below the hands, and Nolan used it to keep audiences oriented through the film's countdown-driven climax. The prop was so specific to the film that Hamilton could not sell it as filmed; the BeLOWZERO it later released for Tenet runs on an automatic movement, with no digital screen.
