In August 2021 Propstore put a small piece of The Gifted up for auction: two scuffed black Casio G-Shocks and a pair of ID badges for Agent Ed Weeks, one of them a Department of Mutant Affairs card with his photo on it, all sold with a Certificate of Authenticity. The show (2017) ran the X-Men premise as a family-on-the-run drama, the government's Sentinel Services hunting mutant families, and Joe Nemmers played Weeks across the first season, one of the field men working alongside Jace Turner. He is procedure in a flak vest.

The watch in this sighting is the analog-digital of the two, a Casio G-Shock GA-100. It is a 51mm resin case water resistant to 200 meters, quartz, with two blunt hands laid over a layered black dial and a small digital window, the G-Shock name molded into the bezel and the whole thing knocked dull from use. New it costs about 120 dollars. The other watch in the lot is the all-digital DW-6900, the one with three small eyes on the display. They are the watches of a man whose job is mostly waiting and then moving fast.

So a 120-dollar watch went to auction under a Certificate of Authenticity, the same GA-100 Casio still sells new at a mall counter. What earned the certificate was not the watch but the wrist it had been on, a Sentinel Services agent in a show about hunting mutants.
