Taylor Hackford's Parker (2013) comes from Donald Westlake's novels about a thief who works by a code: he does not steal from people who cannot afford it, and he keeps his word. Jason Statham plays him as a craftsman, a man for whom violence is a tool and not the point. To reach the crew that left him for dead, Parker builds a disguise, a rich man named Daniel Parmitt shopping for property in Palm Beach, and Jennifer Lopez plays the local agent he pulls into it.
Parmitt's wrist gets a Richard Mille RM 011, a six-figure skeletonized slab of titanium and red gold. Richard Mille, which placed the watch in the film, said it complemented Parker's ruthless and courageous character. It is a watch built to be looked at, and it suits a man performing wealth he does not have.
Then the disguise comes off. In the scene where Parker has been patched up at a table, his shirt traded for a bloodied tank top, the watch on his wrist is a Rolex Submariner. Black dial, black bezel, a steel bracelet, nothing on it to read but the time. It is the watch of the man underneath the act. Parmitt wears the Richard Mille. Parker wears the Rolex.
