James Widdoes wears a Baume & Mercier

Somebody has to be in charge of the Delta house, and Robert Hoover is nominally that person. James Widdoes plays the fraternity president in John Landis' Animal House (1978), the one trying to keep order while Bluto wrecks the place and Otter talks his way into trouble. When Dean Wormer puts Delta on double secret probation, Hoover is the brother who treats it as a real problem.

Hoover's watch gets its own close-up. The camera fills the frame with his wrist, and the brand sits right there on the dial: a gold Baume & Mercier dress watch with Roman numerals on a black strap. Baume & Mercier is a Swiss maker with roots back to 1830, a more formal watch than a college kid usually wears. It suits the one Delta brother who takes anything seriously.
