Guy Ritchie's The Covenant, released by MGM on April 21, 2023 and written by Ritchie with Ivan Atkinson and Marn Davies, trades the director's usual flash for something plainer. Jake Gyllenhaal plays Master Sergeant John Kinley, a U.S. Army Green Beret whose unit is ambushed near Lashkar Gah in March 2018. The ambush kills his team, and his interpreter, Ahmed Abdullah, played by Dar Salim, drags the gravely wounded Kinley across days of hostile country to safety. The second half is Kinley repaying the debt: home in California, unable to push visas through for Ahmed and his family, he goes back in to get them out.

Kinley's wrist tells the film in two acts. In the combat scenes he wears what the G-Shock specialists at G-Central identify as a Casio GBD-800, strapped beside a Garmin Foretrex navigation unit on the same forearm, a pairing visible in a production still. The watch MTM claims is the second one. The brand's media archive logs the placement in its own words: MTM Watch's Vulture timepiece worn by actor Jake Gyllenhaal on the film The Covenant. The Vulture is a serious tool: 47 millimeters of solid titanium in black DLC running Swiss quartz, a unidirectional 60 minute dive bezel, 200 meters of water resistance, sapphire over a dial of real carbon fiber, screw-down pushers and crown, and an integrated, rechargeable lighting system with three LEDs, four modes, and an ultraviolet setting. Retail runs 1,100 to 1,400 dollars, and collector databases add that the film watch wears a green rubber band.

MTM has designed, engineered, and assembled its watches at a downtown Los Angeles headquarters for more than 38 years, founded by an ex-military owner and built, in its own phrase, for the soldier, the officer, the athlete, and adventurer. It is not a marquee name, but its archive reads like an action filmography: Schwarzenegger wore the Gray Cobra 47 in Sabotage, Dwayne Johnson wore the Black 3-GER in Skyscraper, and Chris Pratt wore the AirStryk II in The Tomorrow War, then came back for the Black Vulture itself in 2025. The Covenant earned 21.9 million dollars against a 55 million dollar budget, a commercial disappointment that still drew an A from CinemaScore audiences.
