Guy Ritchie's The Covenant turns on Ahmed, the Afghan interpreter who drags a wounded American sergeant across miles of Taliban country, and on the sergeant, played by Jake Gyllenhaal, who later comes back for him. Dar Salim plays Ahmed. On his wrist is a large round black digital watch with four small screws set into the bezel.
Which watch it is, the databases cannot agree on. The film is full of real Casio G-Shocks, and a watch-spotting site identifies them by reference: Gyllenhaal's as a GBD800UC, another character's as a GA-2100. Ahmed's it logs only as a 'round digital watch,' and the nearest match anyone has turned up is a seventeen-dollar generic on Amazon. A second site calls it a G-Shock regardless. So in a film of named G-Shocks, the interpreter at the center of it wears the one watch nobody can name.
