Stephen Sondheim and Anthony Perkins wrote The Last of Sheila (1973) as a puzzle, and the film plays like one. A Hollywood producer (James Coburn) invites six acquaintances onto his yacht for a week of party games, each designed to expose one person's secret. Herbert Ross directed. The setup is an elaborate trap: Coburn's wife Sheila was killed in a hit-and-run a year earlier, and he's convinced one of his guests was driving. Ian McShane plays Anthony Wood, a screenwriter in the group, charming and watchful.
This promotional shot shows the full cast assembled on the dock — Coburn, Raquel Welch, Joan Hackett, McShane, Dyan Cannon, and Richard Benjamin, dressed for a Mediterranean holiday. A gold watch has been noted on McShane's wrist in the film, though it's hard to spot in this group shot. For a Hollywood screenwriter in the 1970s, someone who needed to look successful enough to keep getting hired, a gold watch was part of the uniform. The specific make and model haven't been determined.
