James Mangold directed Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, taking over from Steven Spielberg for the fifth and presumably final Indiana Jones film. Harrison Ford was 80 during production. The film opens with a de-aged Ford in a 1944 sequence, then jumps to 1969 where Jones is a tired college professor about to retire. Mads Mikkelsen plays a former Nazi scientist now working for NASA, loosely modeled on Wernher von Braun. Phoebe Waller-Bridge plays Jones's goddaughter Helena Shaw.
Jones wears a Hamilton Boulton, a rectangular gold-tone dress watch with Art Deco lines. Hamilton has a long relationship with the Indiana Jones franchise. The Boulton's vintage proportions fit a character who is supposed to be wearing a watch from the 1940s even when the film takes place in 1969. The rectangular case is distinctive on Ford's wrist, and the gold tone reads as the kind of watch a college professor of that era would actually own and keep wearing for decades.
