In a car winding home through summer greenery in Don Roos's Bounce (2000), Abby Janello has fallen asleep against Buddy Amaral's chest, her son dozing in the front seat, and for once nobody is performing grief. Gwyneth Paltrow plays Abby, the widow of a man who died in a plane crash after Buddy, an advertising executive played by Ben Affleck, talked his way out of that same flight and handed over his seat. Affleck spends the film circling her, half in penance and half in love, and Roos shoots their quietest reconciliations like this one, in the back of a moving car where the guard finally drops. On Paltrow's relaxed wrist, folded across her, is a watch on a steel bracelet, a small-to-mid case catching the window light. The dial never turns to camera, so the brand stays a guess: a single French watch trade outlet, writing under the film's French title Un amour infini, identified it as an Oris Big Crown Pointer Day, but nothing on screen confirms a maker, and no second source has ever backed the call. What you can actually see is the right kind of watch for the scene, plain steel on a tired single mother who is not thinking about her wrist at all, which is exactly why it reads as real rather than as costume.
