Gwyneth Paltrow wears a Cartier Tank

Gwyneth Paltrow plays Johanna in Mortdecai, David Koepp's 2015 caper about a posh, nearly broke art dealer named Charlie Mortdecai (Johnny Depp) and his sharper wife. The watch attributed to her is a Cartier Tank.

It is one of the oldest shapes in watchmaking. Louis Cartier drew the Tank in 1917 from the overhead outline of the Renault tanks then crossing France, a small rectangular case that became shorthand for understated money. The exact model is unsettled. One watch-spotting site calls it the gold Tank Louis Cartier, another the slimmer Tankissime, and the film never holds the wrist still long enough to settle it, so the safe answer is Cartier Tank.
