George Lazenby wears a Rolex Submariner

George Lazenby made one Bond film and wore the last Rolex the franchise would use for 26 years. On Her Majesty's Secret Service, directed by Peter Hunt, is the Bond film where 007 falls in love, marries, and loses his wife to an assassin's bullet in the final scene. Lazenby replaced Sean Connery and was himself replaced after a single outing, making OHMSS the most unusual entry in the series.

The ref. 5513 is a no-date Submariner with a 40mm steel case, acrylic crystal, and caliber 1520 automatic movement. It was the simpler sibling to the ref. 1680, which added a date window. The 5513 remained in production from 1962 to 1989, making it one of the longest-running references in Rolex history. In 1969, it retailed for under $200. Lazenby's 5513 appears throughout the film, from the pre-title beach fight to the Alpine sequences at Blofeld's Piz Gloria clinic to the wedding.

Lazenby's vulnerability in the final scene, holding his dead wife while insisting "We have all the time in the world," gave the Submariner an emotional weight that few movie watches carry.
