Gene Nelson wears a Hamilton

Crime Wave (1954) is Andre De Toth's lean Los Angeles noir about Steve Lacey (Gene Nelson), a paroled ex-con dragged back into a bank job when his old cellmates turn up at his door. As the heist's clock runs down, Lacey checks his watch in the getaway car, a round Hamilton with a pale dial, Arabic numerals, and a small seconds register, the maker's name plain beneath twelve. It reads as an honest working-man's watch on the one crook in the crew who never wanted to be there.
