Edwin Hodge plays Dorian in The Tomorrow War, Chris McKay's 2021 film about civilians conscripted into a losing war against aliens thirty years in the future. Dorian is the squad's hard case, a combat veteran on his third tour, and Hodge spends the film in tactical gear with a rifle.
On his wrist is a Breitling Navitimer 8 B01 Chronograph 43, reference AB0117131B1P1: a 43mm steel pilot's chronograph with a black dial, three pale sub-dials and the knurled coin-edge bezel that defines the line. Breitling launched the Navitimer 8 in 2018 and took its name from the Huit Aviation department the company ran in the 1930s, building cockpit clocks and instrument watches for pilots. The B01 version is powered by Breitling's in-house chronograph movement.
It is an easy watch to miss. Dorian wears it through fast, crowded combat shots, and in one of them, the squad charging through red smoke, the warm light catches the steel case and makes it look briefly like gold. A cleaner frame settles it: the three-register dial and the notched bezel are the Navitimer 8's, not some anonymous round watch, which is the whole reason it can be named at all.
