Paul Doyle is the ex-convict in Michael Bay's Pain & Gain, a born-again Christian fresh out of prison who falls back in with the Sun Gym gang, the Miami bodybuilders who kidnapped and extorted a businessman in the mid-1990s because they had decided they deserved his money. Dwayne Johnson plays him, with Mark Wahlberg as the ringleader Daniel Lugo and Anthony Mackie as Adrian Doorbal. Bay shot it in Miami and pushed the heat and the neon as far as they would go.
On Doyle's wrist, according to the watch-spotting sites, is a yellow-gold Rolex Yacht-Master. Rolex launched the Yacht-Master in 1992, and the first version was exactly this: a solid 18-karat gold sport watch with a bidirectional rotating bezel, built for the marina. The sites name the 40mm reference 16628, the gold Yacht-Master that trades around thirty thousand dollars. It is a watch bought to be seen owning, which fits a gang chasing the look of wealth.
The attribution is not airtight: the link to the film comes from a French watch site and a YouTube walkthrough rather than a clear on-screen shot, and Johnson owns a gold Yacht-Master in real life, which muddies it. The model is specific and credible, but here the sighting is reported rather than confirmed.
