In G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Dwayne Johnson's Roadblock walks into frame in full kit at night, a belt-fed rifle across his chest and Channing Tatum's Duke at his shoulder. Jon M. Chu's 2013 sequel kills Duke off early and hands the picture to Roadblock, the team's heavy-weapons man, who leads what is left of the Joes after Cobra frames them and picks off the rest. It is a Dwayne Johnson role in the purest sense. He carries a very large gun and most of the movie.
MTM Special Ops lists the watch on his wrist as its Black Cobra, and the credit has more behind it than the usual marketing line. The Black Cobra 44 is a tactical quartz chronograph, a 44mm titanium case under black DLC, sapphire crystal, water resistant to 200 meters, about 1,900 dollars. MTM partnered with the Retaliation release and ran a tie-in giveaway, so its watches were genuinely in the film's orbit. What that giveaway handed out was a Hypertec Tactical, not the Black Cobra the same page now credits to the film.
In the still itself, neither wrist shows a watch. The right forearm carries a strip of tactical gear above a fingerless glove, the left hand is wrapped around the rifle. The watch documented on Roadblock in Retaliation belongs to another brand: a Panerai Luminor Daylight Chronograph, reference PAM00356 by SwissWatchExpo's reckoning, its Luminor crown bridge and black chronograph dial visible in the firefight stills. Johnson wears Panerai on screen and off, so that identification holds. An MTM may ride on his wrist in a frame the Panerai coverage skipped, and by MTM's own account it does. The Black Cobra still has no moment anyone else can point to.
