The Raid 2 opens in a muddy field, where a beaten man kneels while a gangster named Bejo talks at him about ambition and the importance of knowing one's limits. The man is Andi, Rama's brother, the one who walked out of the first film alive. Bejo finishes the speech and has him shot. That murder is the first thing the sequel does and the reason for the rest of it: Rama agrees to go undercover, into the same crime world that has just put his brother in the ground.
Andi is on screen for that one scene. Worn & Wound, working through the film's Hamiltons for a piece on the brand in movies, finds one more on his wrist and ends its list there: a Hamilton Khaki Field Pioneer. It is a field watch, the plain military kind Hamilton has made since it supplied the American military in the Second World War. The same list puts a Pan Europ chronograph on Rama and a Jazzmaster Viewmatic, a dress watch, on the crime boss's son Uco. Andi, dead by the end of the first scene, gets the soldier's watch.
The Hamiltons are in The Raid 2 because the brand's distributor outfitted the cast, and the placement came with a press release that never named Andi. He was the wrist nobody was selling, the man whose only job in the movie is to die in the opening minutes so the story can begin. The watch is the last thing the catalogue records, the way Andi is the first thing the film disposes of.
