Denis Leary wears an unidentified watch

On a wet Manhattan street at night, Captain George Stacy pulls his daughter Gwen into an embrace, the city's headlights smearing behind them. Denis Leary plays Stacy as a hard, practical cop in Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man, the head of an NYPD that treats the masked kid climbing its buildings as a vigilante to be arrested rather than thanked. He hunts Spider-Man for most of the film, then dies in the third act helping him hold off the Lizard atop Oscorp tower.

On Stacy's left wrist, just above the cuff as he holds Gwen, is a round watch with a dark dial on a steel link bracelet. It is a sturdy, legible, no-nonsense piece, the kind a working captain would actually reach for, with no brand the streetlight will give up. That suits him. George Stacy has a city to police and a daughter to worry about, and the watch on his wrist has more in common with his job than with his vanity.
