Banzaï (1983) is a Claude Zidi comedy starring Coluche, the hugely popular French comedian, as Michel Bernardin, a troubleshooter for an emergency-assistance company who solves other people's crises by telephone while trying to make it to his own wedding. He promises his fiancée Isabelle, an airline stewardess, that nothing will delay the ceremony; she promises to give up flying; both promises fall apart, and the job flings Michel from Paris to New York to Tunisia to Hong Kong.
Michel is reported to wear a steel Rolex Submariner Date. Rolex launched the Submariner in 1953 as a purpose-built diver's watch, with a rotating bezel for timing a dive and a luminous black dial, and by the 1980s it had become as much an everyday watch as a diving instrument.
