Clio Goldsmith wears a Cartier Santos de Cartier

At a candlelit table in Venice, a retiring bank employee dines with the young woman his colleagues have given him as a send-off present. Le Cadeau (1982), released in English as Bankers Also Have Souls, is a Michel Lang sex comedy in which Pierre Mondy's clerk is handed a call girl, Joyane (Clio Goldsmith), as a retirement gift and takes her to Venice. Claudia Cardinale plays his wife. Goldsmith, a niece of the financier James Goldsmith, had a short run in early-1980s French and Italian cinema before leaving acting.

On Joyane's wrist is said to be a Cartier Santos in steel and gold. Louis Cartier built the first Santos in 1904 for the aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont, and when Cartier reissued it in two-tone steel and gold in the late 1970s, the square case became one of the most worn luxury watches in Europe through the 1980s.
