A rectangular dress watch is an unusual choice for a weapons manufacturer who builds nanotechnology warheads. Christopher Eccleston wears one as James McCullen in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009), visible in a scene where he stands with arms folded in his underground weapons facility, surrounded by rows of powered armor. It looks like old money on a man who deals in new destruction — a gold or steel case with a light dial and metal bracelet, more boardroom than battlefield.
McCullen is Destro before he becomes Destro. Eccleston plays him as a Scottish arms dealer descended from a 17th-century ancestor who was punished for selling weapons to both sides by having a metal mask fused to his face. The family crest and the centuries-old grudge are the character's entire motivation. Eccleston has said publicly that he hated making this film, which may explain why his performance has a coiled irritation that works well for a villain who believes he is smarter than everyone around him. The watch has not been identified, but its dressy, traditional shape fits a man obsessed with his own lineage.
