Somewhere in the dry gold hills above San Francisco, the task force hunting James Reece finally gets close enough to draw weapons. This is The Terminal List, the 2022 series in which Chris Pratt's wronged Navy SEAL works his way down a list of the people who betrayed him while the people chasing him stay a step behind. Christina Vidal plays Mac Wilson, the U.S. Marshal running that pursuit beside the FBI's Tony Layun. In this scene she is in a two-handed shooting stance behind a marked SUV, an FBI plate carrier over a dark long-sleeve top, a sweat-stained ball cap pulled low. The door panel beside her reads S.F.P.D.

Now look at her left wrist, the one bracing the pistol. There is a watch on it, and it is doing the one thing a watch should do on someone who runs toward gunfire for a living. It stays out of the way. The dial is cream, ringed with dark numerals, a second set of military hours tucked inside them. The case is round and steel. The strap is a faded olive, the color of nearly everything else she has on. It is a field watch, which is the plainest and most honest kind of watch there is.

What nobody has done is name it. The prop catalogs that comb through shows like this one logged Mac Wilson's camo cap and walked straight past the watch on her wrist. So we are left with what the screen shows us and nothing more. The field watch was made for soldiers who needed the hour and nothing else, and a hundred years later it is still the watch that asks for no attention. On the wrist of a marshal moving toward gunfire, that is exactly the right watch to be wearing and exactly the wrong one to expect anyone to identify.
