Christian Bale wears a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso

Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins (2005) is as interested in Bruce Wayne the man as in the cowl, and Christian Bale plays the public Bruce as a performance, the careless billionaire a role he puts on as deliberately as the suit. On his wrist, in black tie with a glass raised, is a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso.

Jaeger-LeCoultre built the first Reverso in 1931 for polo players who needed a case they could flip face-down to guard the crystal during a match. The model here is the Reverso Grande Taille, the larger, time-only version, the same watch Wayne keeps wearing into The Dark Knight. Time and Tide called the choice pitch-perfect for the character: a quiet rectangular dress watch with no logo and no sport-watch bulk.
