In Guy Ritchie's The Gentlemen, Charlie Hunnam plays Ray, the unflappable second-in-command to Matthew McConaughey's Mickey Pearson, the American running a marijuana empire out of the English aristocracy's country houses. Ray is the one who cleans up the messes, and Hunnam plays him quiet and exact, in the sharp tailoring the film keeps him in.
On his wrist is a yellow gold Rolex Day-Date, identified by Oracle of Time in its rundown of the film's watches. The Day-Date is the only Rolex made exclusively in gold or platinum, never in steel, and the only one that spells the day of the week out in full at twelve o'clock, which is what sets it apart from the steel Datejust it otherwise resembles. Oracle of Time noted the incongruity of the dress watch on a man who spends much of the film around firearms.
