In Sense8's second season, Hernando Fuentes kisses Lito Rodriguez at São Paulo's gay pride parade, tipping him back with a hand behind Lito's head, a gold watch on Hernando's wrist. Alfonso Herrera plays Hernando, an art professor in Mexico City whose boyfriend is a film star who has spent his career in the closet to protect it. Lito has just been outed against his will, and the parade is where he takes the microphone in front of the largest pride crowd in the world.

The watch is a Casio A168WG-9EF, the gold version of the brand's vintage square digital. The case is steel, 38.6 millimeters tall, finished in gold ion plating, on a matching bracelet, with a backlight and a stopwatch behind the small grey screen. Casio asks about eighty dollars for it. By the company's own account, the water resistance covers washing up or a sudden shower, and nothing past that.

So the gold catching the parade light is the humblest watch Casio builds, a rain-rated digital under a thin coat of gold over steel. Hernando spent two seasons as the secret a star could not afford, and the watch on his wrist when that secret ended in public was a forty-nine-gram Casio whose automatic calendar runs correctly until 2099.
