Alessandro Nivola plays Sammy Navon, the field doctor on the Mossad team in The Red Sea Diving Resort, and on his wrist is a steel Bell & Ross BR 126 chronograph. There is a problem with that. The film is set in 1980, and Bell & Ross did not exist until 1992, when two childhood friends, Bruno Belamich and Carlos Rosillo, founded it and stitched their surnames together for the name. The watch magazine that caught the slip has the likely explanation: it is probably Nivola's own watch, never swapped out for something period-correct.
Bell & Ross built its name on instrument watches, square cases meant to read like a cockpit gauge. The BR 126 is the quieter part of the catalog: a round steel case with a vintage-style automatic chronograph inside, closer to a field watch than to the brand's signature aviation slabs. It looks the part for a Mossad operative in the desert. It is just a watch that would not be designed for another decade.
