At home, away from Lumon, Mark Scout is a widower, a former history professor drinking his way through grief, a man with far too much past. Adam Scott's outie wears a watch to match: a Vostok Komandirskie, reference 341307, with a green sunburst dial, a red Soviet star, luminous Arabic numerals, and a rotating dive bezel.
Vostok is a Russian factory that built watches for the Soviet military, and the Komandirskie, meaning commander's, was its officer's watch, a cheap and rugged thing issued by the thousand. This one did not come from a prop-house catalog. The show's prop master, Catherine Miller, who also chose the watches for Uncut Gems, pulled it from her own collection, the kind of specific secondhand object a real person accumulates over a life and Lumon would never issue.
That contrast is the whole design. The innie wears a blank modern watch with no history; the outie wears a Soviet relic thick with it. Severance puts two watches on its two Marks so that a glance at the wrist tells you which man you are looking at, the one Lumon made or the one grief did.
