Aaron Eckhart wears an Oris TT Diver Date

Scott Hicks's No Reservations (2007) is the Hollywood remake of the 2001 German film Mostly Martha, and it casts Aaron Eckhart as Nick Palmer, a loose, opera-singing sous chef hired into the kitchen run by Catherine Zeta-Jones's rigidly controlled head chef. We meet him on the line in chef's whites, working the pass of a Manhattan restaurant, and on his wrist is a dark steel sports watch on a steel bracelet. It is an Oris TT Diver Date, a 200-metre diver from the brand's motorsport-flavoured TT1 family, the line Oris's Aquis collection would later push out of the catalogue, which makes this a discontinued mid-2000s piece now traded on the secondary market. There was no brand placement behind it, just a workmanlike steel diver on a chef who is all easy competence and no flash, the kind of watch a man wears because it works rather than because it shows.
