Zachary Quinto wears a Porsche Design P6612 Chronograph

A former rocket scientist checking the time at 3 AM while discovering the formula that will crash his firm. That is Peter Sullivan in J.C. Chandor's Margin Call, and the watch on Zachary Quinto's wrist is a Porsche Design P6612 Chronograph. All-black PVD case, integrated rubber strap, deployant clasp. The blacked-out design reads as serious but not flashy, which is exactly the point. Sullivan is the smartest person in the room and the lowest-paid.

Prop master Michael Cory placed three watches across the film's executives and analysts, each calibrated to the character wearing it. Kevin Spacey's character gets a two-tone Rolex Submariner. Jeremy Irons wears an IWC Portuguese Chronograph. Sullivan's Porsche Design sits below both in price and prestige, but it is the most interesting of the three. The P6612 was designed by Studio F.A. Porsche, the same industrial design house behind the 911. It is a tool, not a status symbol.
