Tracey E. Bregman wears a Cartier Santos de Cartier

Happy Birthday to Me is a 1981 slasher directed by J. Lee Thompson, set at an elite prep school where the members of a clique called the Top Ten are killed off one by one as Virginia Wainwright nears her eighteenth birthday. Melissa Sue Anderson plays Virginia, Glenn Ford plays her psychiatrist, and Tracey E. Bregman plays Ann Thomerson, one of the doomed clique.

A French watch-in-film column says Ann wears a Cartier Santos, but the claim carries no source, and the watch is not visible in the stills that circulate from the film, so it stays unconfirmed. The Santos itself is old and real: Louis Cartier designed it in 1904 for the aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont, one of the first wristwatches built to be worn rather than carried, and Cartier reissued the steel-and-gold version in 1978, a few years before the film.
