Barry Sonnenfeld directed Men in Black (1997). Tommy Lee Jones plays Agent K, the senior MIB agent who has been wiping memories and managing alien immigration since the 1960s. Jones plays K as bone-tired and completely humorless, which is what makes the comedy work: his deadpan against Smith's energy carries the film.
Agent K wears the same Hamilton Ventura as Agent J, the standard MIB watch, part of the uniform alongside the black suit and sunglasses. The Ventura dates to 1957, when it launched as the world's first electric wristwatch, and its asymmetric shield-shaped case was designed by Richard Arbib. Elvis Presley wore one in Blue Hawaii and Rod Serling wore one on The Twilight Zone, which fixed the watch's futuristic, mid-century identity long before the Men in Black adopted it. The Ventura first appears on Jones's wrist in the opening alien-pursuit sequence, when K reaches for his Neuralyzer to wipe a highway patrolman's memory, and it went on to become the franchise's watch across every sequel. Hamilton later produced MIB-branded Ventura editions tied to the partnership.
