Hardy plays both Kray twins, which is the kind of stunt that either ruins a film or defines it. Brian Helgeland wrote and directed, working from the real history of Reggie and Ronnie Kray, who ran East London's underworld through the 1960s until Nipper Read finally put them away in 1968. Reggie was the composed one, the twin who wanted to look like a legitimate businessman while running protection rackets and nightclubs. Ronnie was clinically paranoid. Hardy differentiated them through posture, voice, and jaw tension. The Omega is Reggie's watch.

The specific model is unidentified, but the brand fits the era and the character. In the 1960s, Omega was the watch you wore if you wanted to signal respectability without shouting about money. It sat a step above Timex and a step below Patek Philippe, which put it in exactly the bracket a man like Reggie Kray would have occupied. He had money but needed it to look earned rather than stolen. The Constellation and Seamaster lines from that decade were built for men who wore suits to work, whether the work was legal or not.
