Tom Hanks wears a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date

Clint Eastwood's Sully (2016) spends only a few minutes on the Hudson River landing itself and most of its runtime on the NTSB investigation that followed, with Tom Hanks as Captain Chesley Sullenberger, the pilot who put US Airways 1549 down on the water and got everyone aboard out alive.

The watch on Hanks's wrist is a Rolex, or rather a watch built to look like one. When the screen-used piece was auctioned through Prop Store, it was cataloged as a prop made to resemble a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date: a steel-tone chain-link bracelet engraved "Rolex" in two places, with gold-tone detailing on the crown and a battery inside that does not keep accurate time. It came in a production baggie marked "Sully Hero #1." On screen it reads as a plain steel sports Rolex.
