Tom Hanks wears a Casio G-Shock

Chuck Noland is a FedEx systems engineer who runs his life by the clock, lecturing a Moscow sorting hub about the seconds it loses and holding himself to a stopwatch. For all of that pre-crash life, in Robert Zemeckis's Cast Away (2000), the watch on his wrist is a Casio G-Shock DW-5600, the square resin digital Casio built to take a beating. Then his cargo plane goes down over the Pacific and Noland is stranded alone on an uninhabited island for four years. The timepiece that goes with him there is a different one, the Elgin pocket watch his girlfriend Kelly gave him with her photograph tucked inside the lid. Helen Hunt plays Kelly, the woman who waits at home and finally has to stop.
